Country Roads Kicks Off Summer At Global Wildlife!

Last week, we were thrilled to welcome Country Roads magazine to Global Wildlife Center here in Folsom. Their recent visit resulted in not one – but several – beautifully written features exploring the many ways guests can connect with animals across our preserve this summer. We’re so grateful they took the time to experience the magic for themselves, and we couldn’t be more honored to be featured.

If you haven’t read the articles yet, we hope you’ll check them out. From slobbery giraffe kisses to peaceful moments with our capybaras, every story captured the heart of what makes Global Wildlife so special. Here’s a taste of what they covered:

Summer Safari Adventures: Featuring the Global Wildlife Pinzgauer Tour

There’s nothing quite like coming face-to-face with reticulated giraffes, Bactrian camels, and more – especially when you’re doing it from the back of a Pinzgauer all-terrain vehicle! Country Roads got to experience our summer safari tour, complete with a unique souvenir to take home. Guests have the option to dab safe, animal-friendly dye and pellets onto a canvas, and as our curious animals explore the vehicle in search of a snack, they leave their mark – literally! The result? A one-of-a-kind work of art created by a giraffe, zebra, or even a camel!

Keeping Up With The Capys: Featuring Global Wildlife’s Capy Creativity Encounter

Is there anything more relaxing than hanging out with a group of sunbathing capybaras? We showed Country Roads firsthand. Out herd – Babs, Milo, Otis, Tot, and Bruno – have quickly become guest favorites. During the Capy Creativity Encounter, visitors aged 10 and up can feed, interact with, and even create art alongside these chill, social creatures. And with a second litter of baby capys expected soon, there’s even more to fall in love with!

Where Kangaroos Are King:  Featuring Global Wildlife’s NEW Walkabout Experience

Step into The Walkabout, where red kangaroos rule the meadow. Country Roads was able to experience the newest addition to the Global Wildlife offerings which lets guests stroll alongside around thirty kangaroos – including joeys like Popcorn – as they lounge, hop, and coexist peacefully with our capybaras. With no fences between you and the animals, this is about as close to the Outback as you can get without a passport.

Tortoise Talk: Featuring Global Wildlife’s Upcoming Tortoise Encounter

Coming this summer to Global Wildlife: slow things down with Ninja and Gaia, our two Sulcata tortoises. These gentle giants arwe just about ready to make their debut as part of our encounter lineup, where guests can feed them fresh veggies and learn how they use their tough shells (which are part of their skeleton!) to interact with the world. With warm weather ahead, Ninja and Gaia are ready to dig, bask, and greet new friends all summer long.
